Harlan George Schwerin, 90, of Marshall, formerly of Wood Lake, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Avera Morningside Heights in Marshall. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Posen Township, rural Wood Lake. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.   Harlan Schwerin joined his Savior on May 21, 2018 after a short illness. An army veteran of the Korean War, Harlan loved to share stories with family and friends. He was born in Echo, MN on September 29, 1927. He graduated from Echo High School in 1946 and joined the army in 1948. He married Carol Brockman in 1953, and lived in Alabama for a year while finishing his military service. The couple then returned to Wabasso, Minnesota in 1954 to begin farming. In 1964 they moved to Wood Lake, MN, to settle on the family farm. Harlan farmed on the Homesteaded farm until his retirement in 1998. He took great pleasure in shared stories, card games, fishing and fun conversations with his 11 grandchildren and took great pleasure in their many achievements. He and his wife developed close communities of friends at a lake retreat near Glenwood, Minnesota over many years and in Alamo, Texas during the 15 winters spent there. He is survived by his 3 sons, Clayton, Roger, Dave (Diane), by his daughter Kaye (Donald) Wothe, and by his grandchildren, Michael (Selam) and Garrett Schwerin, Kevin (Beth) Schwerin and Kari (Joe) Griffin-Harte, Dani (Erik) Stonestrom, Desi (Joe) Labat, and Dana Schwerin (fiancé Mark Colliflower, Jr), Austin, Jillian, Nicole and Grant Wothe and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Myrtle (Trudy) Paskiewicz. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents, George and Myrtle Schwerin, and his sisters Corliss and Beverly.
