James “Jim” Ellingson, 70, of Belview, passed away unexpectedly after an accident on Friday, July 20, 2018 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at the Belview Cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. James Henry Ellingson was born on January 15, 1948 in Tracy, MN to Henry and Catherine (Boever) Ellingson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso, attended St. Anne’s Elementary School and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1968. After graduation, Jim was drafted into the United States Army for a short time before being honorably discharged. He made his home in Wabasso and farmed by Belview. He worked for several years at the Belview Concrete and Tile Plant and worked many nights with his brother as a mechanic for his friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Belview American Legion. Jim was the kind of guy who would help anyone and was very kind and good natured. He loved attending family functions and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed collecting toys, go carts, motorcycles, pretty much anything fun and with a motor. Jim liked farm equipment and restoring old tractors. On Friday, July 20, 2018, Jim passed away unexpectedly after an accident at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota at the age of 70. He is survived by his brothers Ron (Evie) Stadick of Walnut Grove and Norman Ellingson of Belview; nieces and nephews Christopher (Andrea) Ellingson, Thomas (Sandi) Ellingson, Tonya Ellingson, Kiley (Travis) Jordet; and several great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephews Bob Stadick and Cody Ellingson. Blessed be his memory.
