Kathleen “Kathy” Marie (Rende) Guetter was born on June 16, 1954, in Browns Valley, MN, to Oscar and Dorothy (Kruger) Rende. She grew up in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School. She attended Alexandria Vocational School for secretarial work. On December 29, 1973, Kathy was united in marriage to Gregory Guetter at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton. The couple lived in Redwood Falls for a short time before moving to the Plaetz home farm, the farm where Greg’s mother grew up, where they lived the rest of their marriage. Kathy liked to stay busy. Throughout her life, she worked as a journalist for the Wabasso Standard, a receptionist for Farm Bureau Insurance in Wabasso, and a bus driver for Wabasso schools. In 1998, she and Greg started the Guetter Driving School. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable, flower, and fairy gardens. More than anything else, Kathy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed trying new recipes for her family and taking care of her loved ones. She enjoyed time spent with family, including going on cruises with Greg and camping trips with the entire family at Kiesler’s in Waseca. Kathy was also very active in St. Anne’s Catholic Church and School. She served as the school nurse, helped with activities, started a cheerleading squad, and organized “I Love to Read” Month. Kathy died on Monday, March 31, 2025, surrounded by family at her residence, under the care of Avera at Home Hospice. She is survived by her husband Greg; children Tina Snider, Chris Guetter, Stacy (Chad) Tosterud, DeeAnn (Will) Stalvey, and Erin (Ben) Dahmes; grandchildren Myra and Brinna Snider, Kendra and Gavin Tosterud, Cassidy Stalvey, Alexis and Ava Dahmes, and step-grandson Grant Tosterud; siblings Zinda Rende, Keith (Julie) Rende, and Kevin Rende; brothers-in-law Bob Vangstad and Ron Geske; as well as Guetter in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
