Lawrence “Larry” Pitzl Sr., 77, of Wabasso, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Wabasso Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Wabasso. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Friday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM followed by the Rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Wabasso. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Lawrence John Pitzl Sr. was born on August 20, 1940 to John and Kathryn (Schwint) Pitzl in Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Morgan High School. In 1958, Larry enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1961. On September 29, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Frances Petsinger at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. They moved to Rhode Island where Larry was stationed while in the military. After Larry’s discharge from the Navy, they returned to the Morgan area where Larry worked as a farmhand. In 1971 they moved to Wabasso where Larry worked several different positions at the John Deere Implement for over 33 years. He was active with the Wabasso Fire Department, Two Cylinder Club, Commercial Club, Cemetery Committee, American Legion and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed playing cards, gardening, restoring old tractors, fishing, watching Wheel Of Fortune, custom combining with his brothers and spending time with his grandchildren. On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, Larry passed away at the Wabasso Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Wabasso at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Fran Pitzl of Wabasso; children Lori (Tim) Jenniges of Fortville, IN, Brenda Schroeder of Windom, Cindy Harrington of Windom, Mike (Chris) Pitzl of Wabasso, Brian (Judy) Pitzl of Clarkfield and Brad (Vicky) Pitzl of Wabasso; daughter-in-law Tammy Pitzl of Wabasso; 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; siblings Russell (Linda) Pitzl of Hendricks, Katherine (Frank) Peppersack of Parkers Prairie; sister-in-law Ramona Pitzl of Hendricks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Pitzl Jr., son-in-law Terry Harrington, brothers Richard and Roger Pitzl, and sister-in-law Verda Pitzl. Blessed be his memory.
