Raymond Schottle, 87, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and continuing until the time of service. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family.   Raymond Rudolph Schottle was born on September 27, 1930 to Frank and Vera (Swanson) Schottle in Bashaw Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Comfrey High School. In 1951, Ray joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1955. On January 5, 1957, Ray was united in marriage to Leona Johnson in Comfrey, Minnesota. Over the years, they lived in St. James, Sleepy Eye, Lake Manuella and Springfield. Ray worked for Del Monte for 25 years until his retirement. He also worked for Carlson Road Construction, Farm Bureau and farming. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield and also a member of the Sleepy Eye American Legion Honor Guard and VFW. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, reading, going to the casinos and spending time with his family. On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, Ray passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Leona of Springfield; children Brad (Kerrie) Schottle of Elk Grove, CA, Doug (Terry) Schottle of New Ulm, Dale (Robin) Schottle of Sleepy Eye and Lyn (Bill) Johnson of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren Annie (Nathan) Bich, Amber (Zach) Nash, Alie Schottle, Mark Schottle, Alex Schottle, Amanda (special friend Tim Kral) Schottle, Randy Schottle, Rusty (special friend Julie Oachs) Schottle, Nicole (Brent) Johnson, Tiffany (Joey) Prater, Rachel (Trevor) Hayes and Billy Johnson; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Idelle Schottle; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Vera Schottle, brothers Gary and Harold Schottle, sister Dee, brother-in-law Les Therkilsen, one niece and one nephew. Blessed be his memory.
