Raymond Van Lerberghe, 86, of Wood Lake, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the RenVilla Health Center in Renville, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Raymond Van Lerberghe was born on August 14, 1931 to Camiel and Madeline (DePyper) Van Lerberghe in Cottonwood, Minnesota, Yellow Medicine County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley and attended country school near Cottonwood. On October 14, 1950, Ray was united in marriage to Joan DeRider at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley, MN. They lived on a farm near Cottonwood until 1962 when they moved to a farm near Wood Lake. Ray was active over the years with the Echo Farmers Co-op, Wood Lake Public School board, St. Andrew Caholic Church parish council member and a high school religion teacher. He had a passion for farming. He enjoyed hunting trips, traveling to different countries (Belgium, Russia, Spain, Equador, Mexico and Africa) and throughout the United States and spending time with his friends and family. On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, Ray passed away at the RenVilla Health Center in Renville, Minnesota at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife Joan Van Lerberghe of Wood Lake; children Allen Van Lerberghe of Wood Lake, Linda (Jack) Loch of Sauk Centre, Brad (Marlys) Van Lerberghe of Wood Lake, Sandra (Steven) Naab of Marshall, Diane (Craig) Milbradt of Marshall, Pam (John) Keltgen of Carver and Trudy (John) Cariveau of Cambridge; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; siblings Adeline (Lawrence) Tholen of Marshall, Kenneth Van Lerberghe of Denver, CO and Ronald Van Lerberghe of Cottonwood; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Greg , two sisters Alice Burczek and Elsie Carlson, and a granddaughter Angela Pederson. Blessed be his memory.
