Robert Taylor, 78, of Vesta, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 6:30 PM followed by the rosary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Robert Lee Taylor was born on December 28, 1938 to Earl and Christina (Larson) Taylor on the family farm near Echo, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church in Vesta and graduated from Echo High School in 1957. In 1958, Robert enlisted into the United States Marines and was honorably discharged in 1961. Being a Marine was something Robert took great pride in. On June 30, 1962, Robert was united in marriage to LuAnn Steffl at Holy Name Catholic Church in Vesta. They made their home on two different farms near Echo before moving to their current farm near Vesta in 1971. Robert had a passion for milking cows, farming and working. He was a member of the Vesta American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, animals and bird watching. He had many nicknames such as Harry, Red, Hollywood and Woody. He loved to laugh, had a huge heart and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly, Robert loved to spend time with his children, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, Robert passed away unexpectedly at his residence near Vesta at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 55 years LuAnn Taylor of Vesta; children Sandy (Mike) Labrie of Rosemount, Joe (Michelle) Taylor of Redwood Falls, Sue (Scott) Huhnerkoch of Vesta and Zach Taylor of Vesta; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; siblings Darlene (Don) Olson of Brainerd, Alvin (Mary) Taylor of Tyler and Ivan (Kim) Taylor of Fairfax; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jack, three sisters Erma, Marion and Diane, and four brothers James, Kenneth, Richard and Eugene. Blessed be his memory.
