Shirley Ann Macht, 86, of Lucan, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Wabasso Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Shirley Ann Macht was born on October 7, 1932 to Frank and Helen (Eichten) Estum in Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Lamberton High School. She then attended a year of teachers training and taught country school for a year before marriage. On June 26, 1954, Shirley was united in marriage to Myron Macht at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lamberton. They made their home in Lucan and owned the grocery store. Shirley was very involved in her community being very active with Our Lady of Victory, Ladies Auxiliary, Historical Society, 4-H, the Housing Development Committee and various other community groups. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and spending time with her family. For the last 10 years, Shirley loved being involved with the Grandma’s Program at the Wabasso School where the little kids knew her as “Grandma Shirley”. On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, Shirley passed away at the Wabasso Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Wabasso at the age of 86. She is survived by her children Jolene (Bradley) Dean of Willmar and Patti (Curt) Liebswager of Thompson, ND; grandchildren Scott (Amber) Kragh of Willmar, Ethan Liebswager of Minnetonka and Mikal Liebswager of West Fargo, ND; great grandchildren Ian and Joanna Kragh; and brother James Estum. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Myron, an infant son and brothers Eugene and Richard. Blessed be her memory.
