Viola Hazel (Olson) Jordet was born on March, 22, 1932 at the Black Shack outside Belview, MN to Christ and Hazel (Kruckman) Olson. She grew up and attended country school and high school in Belview. Upon graduation she began working at banks in Belview and Sacred Heart. On August 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Pete Jordet in Belview. To this union were born children Christine, Richard and Caroline. The family lived in Belview, Sacred Heart, Lester Prairie and Hutchinson. After the birth of Christine and Richard, Viola contracted Tuberculosis and spent 14 months in the Sanitarium in Granite Falls, MN. Shortly after Vi was discharged from the Sanitarium the family moved to Hutchinson where they resided for the next 40 years. Viola was a skilled seamstress and sewed most of the clothes her children wore. Vi was employed for many years at Wesley Pharmacy. She and Pete enjoyed square dancing for many years. The couple loved to take their family on camping trips. These trips lead to many family memories. They also served as camp host for the Lac qui Parle State Park. Once Vi and Pete retired they started a crafting business that brought them to many craft shows throughout the Midwest. She loved to go junking with her grandchildren and assisted her daughter in bringing a plethora of animals to the farm. Viola died on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the RenVilla Healthcare Center in Renville, MN. She is survived by her son Richard (Nancy) Jordet of Estherville, IA, daughter Caroline “Carrie” Jordet Freiborg (and Randy) of Renville, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete; daughter Christine Dahlberg; parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Memorials are preferred to Renville County Hospice or the Sacred Heart Area Museum.
