Russell Wayne Walberg, age 61, of Echo, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Avera-Marshall Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo, MN. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and visitation continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Russell Wayne Walberg was born on January 24, 1951 to Earl and Laura (Weseloh) Walberg in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was baptized in February of 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, MN and confirmed in 1966 at the Cross Of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia. He attended and graduated from Olivia Public Schools in 1969. Russell then went on to Mankato Vocational College in Mankato graduating in 1971 with a degree in Auto Body Mechanics. On June 16, 1973, Russell married Sandra Lecy at Rock Valle Lutheran Church in rural Echo, MN. Russell worked for a few years in the Auto Body profession in Olivia before moving to Echo in 1973. Russell and Sandra made their home on a farm outside of Echo where Russell began farming. Russell was a member of Rock Valle Lutheran Church and was active with the church counsel. Russell enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the lake, attending the stock car races, and especially spending time with his children, grand children and family. Russell enjoyed farming and after his accident he continued to be involved as much as he could until his death. On Thursday, July 19, 2012, Russell passed away at the Avera-Marshall Medical Center in Marshall, MN at the age of 61. Russell is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Tracy Walberg of Brainerd, MN, Teri (Mike) Smith of Redwood Falls, MN, and Anthony (Sarah) Walberg of Echo, MN; grandchildren, Jaydn and Kenadi Walberg and Kevin and Tyler Smith; brothers, Melvin (Kathi) Walberg of Monticello, MN and Doyle (Jan) Walberg of Redwood Falls, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His father Earl, mother and father – in –law, Noral and Hildora Lecy, and nephew Jon preceded him in death. Blessed be the memory of Russell
