Daniel "Zimmy" E. Zimmerman

Daniel “Zimmy” E. Zimmerman, age 58, of Granite Falls, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Granite Falls on Friday, August 23, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Online condolences may be placed for Daniel at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. Daniel Edward Zimmerman was born on August 22, 1955 to LeRoy and Norma (Just) Zimmerman in Granite Falls, Minnesota, Yellow Medicine County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. He attended Granite Falls Public Schools and graduated in 1974. Daniel continued his education for two years at Vermillion Community College in Ely, Minnesota graduating with a degree in Forest Ecology. Daniel also went to Taxidermy school in Wisconsin. In 1980, Daniel met the love of his life, Lauri Centa and they spent many wonderful years together until she passed away in 2004. Daniel worked as a Wildlife Technician for the DNR Lac qui Parle Wildlife Management Area and Game Refuge. Daniel loved archery, fishing, hunting, especially looked forward to turkey hunting every year with his dad, enjoyed going to deer camp every year with his friends in Ely, and hunting with his nephews. Daniel was very good at cooking game. Daniel was an excellent dog trainer and really loved his dogs, TJ, Rocky, Tucker, and Tanner. He loved to be outdoors no matter what it was. Trapping, snow camping, dog sledding, and snow shoeing were also activities Daniel loved to do. He also enjoyed playing Buck, listening to John Denver music, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, he was their favorite uncle. Daniel was very athletic being involved with basketball, baseball, football, and track in his younger years. He enjoyed watching Minnesota professional sports as well. On Friday, August 23, 2013, Daniel passed away unexpectedly at his home in Granite Falls, Minnesota at the age of 58 years old. Grateful for having shared in his life are his parents, LeRoy and Norma Zimmerman of Granite Falls; siblings, Beth (Dennis) Brouwer of Hanley Falls, Barbara Sietsema of Sacred Heart, Laura (Kevin) Zimmer of Granite Falls, Linda (Brad) Olson of Waconia, Kristi (Mike) Doose of Granite Falls, Tamra (Randy) Berends of Montevideo, and DeeAnn Zimmerman of Hutchinson; nieces and nephews, Sharon, Keith, Melissa, Shane, Joshua, Raelynn, Chad, Jeremy, Shannon, Holly, Jackie, Dustin, Travis, Jaden, Daniel, Adam, and aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Tanner. The love of his life, Lauri Centa, and his precious dogs, TJ, Rocky, and Tucker preceded him in death. Blessed be the memory of Daniel
