Norma Leona Clara Zimmerman Memorial Service for Norma Zimmerman will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment to be held at a later date. Online condolences may be placed at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association is caring for the family. Norma (Just) Zimmerman was called to her heavenly home on Friday, March 13, 2015. Norma was born on July 22, 1927 to Edward and Bertha (Gumbin) Just. She was baptized on August 7, 1927 and confirmed on May 12, 1940. At the age of 13 she attended boarding school and was a 1945 of Martin Luther High School in New Ulm. Norma went on to graduate with a teaching license from Martin Luther College in 1947. She then took a teaching position in Sanborn, MN FROM 1947-1948. At the Watermelon Days celebration in Sanborn, she met her future husband LeRoy Zimmerman and they would marry on June 17, 1949. From this union Norma and LeRoy were blessed with 8 children and a marriage of 66 years.¬¬¬¬ LeRoy and Norma would then make their home in Granite Falls. An extremely organized and bright woman, she was employed as a cook at Granite Falls Hospital, 1966 to 1979, and then worked at Thelen Oil Company / George’s Food and Fuel from 1979 till her retirement in 1993. She would go on to successfully win many store manager awards. For many decades, she also managed the Bait and Tackle Shop in Granite Falls with Leroy. Norma was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Through the years she taught Sunday school, directed the choir, played the organ, and was a member of the Ladies Circle. A farm girl who never shied from hard work, Norma enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, reading good mystery books, singing hymns, and playing polkas on her organ. She loved picnics and doing dog daycare for her favorite pup, MoJo. While she was still able to travel she enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Laughlin. She was a great scrabble and card player and loved following the Minnesota Twins. Of most importance, she had a strong faith, and love of her Savior. Over the last few months Norma would often express her gratitude for the watchful eye of her Savior and the care she had received from her family. Norma is survived by her husband, Leroy; her seven daughters, Beth (Dennis) Brouwer, Barbara Sietsema, Laura (Kevin) Zimmer, Linda (Brad) Olson, Kristi (Michael) Doose, Tamra (Randy) Berends and Dee Zimmerman; sister, Leona Schrupp; brother, Kenneth (Jeanette) Just; special grandchild, Sharon Mason; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many other loving nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her only son, Daniel E. Zimmerman; parents, Edward and Bertha Just; baby sister, Mabel; and brothers, Art Just, Marvin F. Just, Lawrence Fischer, and Melvin Fischer. Blessed be her memory.
