Inez Caroline Abrahamson, age 99 of Worthington, formerly of Wood Lake, passed away on April 7, 2015 at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona. A Memorial Service for Inez will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Inez Caroline (Carlson) Abrahamson was born on January 8, 1916 in rural Lyon County to Ingvald and Stella (Olson) Carlson. She grew up on a farm in Yellow Medicine County, attended country school, and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. On November 10, 1940, Inez was united in marriage to Clarence Abrahamson at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. They made their home on a farm near Hanley Falls. In 1947, they moved to a farm near Wood Lake and moved into town in 1967 where they remained until moving to Worthington in 2008. Inez was a mother and Homemaker, but also a very remarkable woman. She lost her mother at the age of 6 and was left to help her father take care of her five brothers and all the duties of a mother. Although she had some hard times, she always handled everything with a professional, caring attitude and was a very classy woman. Inez was also involved as a Cub Scout Leader in Wood Lake and Echo, a member of the American Legion Auxillary, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Inez enjoyed golfing, camping, hiking, dancing, and wintering in Arizona for 32 years. She also loved spending time with her family, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On April 7, 2015 Inez passed away at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 99. She is survived by her husband Clarence Abrahamson of Worthington; children Jean (Vern) Bastian of Worthington, Barbara (Ken) Lydell of Des Moines, WA, Sandra (John) Weins of Longville, and Thomas (Karen) Abrahamson of Marysville, OH; grandchildren Brian Lydell, Mark Lydell, Michael Abrahamson, and Steven Abrahamson, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Carl, Norman, Kermit, Arden, and Stanley. Blessed be her memory.
