Myron Glenn Geistfeld was born on Oct 25, 1932 to Walter and Hilda (Fenske) Geistfeld in Clarkfield, the oldest of the 3rd generation coming to America from Germany. He was baptized on Nov 20, 1932 at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Posen Township and was confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake on May 11, 1947. Myron lived with his grandparents in order to walk ¼ of a mile to attend the Posen Township School for four years of his elementary education, then attended and graduated in 1951 from Wood Lake. Myron played sports in high school including running the 440 yard dash in the district, regional and state track meets. Wood Lake High School was also where he met his life partner, Viola Goltz. Myron and Viola were married on Aug 29, 1954 at St John’s Lutheran Church and lived their first few years of marriage on the site of the Posen Township School Myron had attended as a child. They moved to their own dairy farm in 1957, where they lived until moving into Wood Lake in 2003. They were married for 66 years at the time of Viola’s death in 2021. Myron enjoyed listening to “old time” music, and playing town-team baseball for a few years, horseshoes and cards. He also enjoyed watching the MN Twins and Vikings and his grandchildren’s activities. Myron and Viola traveled around the western US and Hawaii, Cancun and Europe, including visiting Germany six times. Closer to home, they would attend Oktoberfest in New Ulm and Stiftungsfest in Norwood Young America each year. Myron died on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Avera Granite Falls Care Center in Granite Falls, MN. He is survived by his son Bob (and Paula) of Wood Lake and his grandchildren Sidney, Parker and Preston and his sister JoAnn Plath of the Twin Cities. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola.
